Icy paths and roads are a real risk each winter, which is why grit bins need to be in working order and ready to use.

While checking a local grit bin as part of Winter Watch, I found this bin was full of water, not grit. In this condition it is completely unusable and offers no protection against slips and falls. That is a safety issue.

Please take a moment to check the grit bin near you. If it is empty, damaged, or full of water like this one, it needs reporting.
