The brand-new White Eagle Outdoor Gym at Haydon End is now complete and open to the public. This inclusive community facility offers a fantastic way for residents to stay active and support their wellbeing throughout the year, whatever the weather.
I was pleased to support this project by voting in favour through the Parks and Open Spaces Committee, recognising the value it brings in promoting both physical and mental wellbeing for our local community. It is wonderful to now see this investment take shape and already being enjoyed by residents.
The new gym includes a wide range of equipment designed for both strength and cardio training:
• Exercise bikes
• Cross trainers
• Multi-use frames
• Arm bikes
• Steppers
• Strength stations
• Accessible arm and pedal bike suitable for wheelchair users
The equipment was chosen following a resident consultation carried out in March 2025, where the most requested items were cross trainers, steppers and exercise bikes.
This all-weather gym is free to use and open to everyone. It provides a valuable opportunity for residents to enjoy outdoor physical activity, improve fitness and support mental wellbeing. Exercise is one of the most effective ways to boost mood, reduce stress and improve overall health, and this new facility makes it accessible to all.
The official opening will take place on Sunday 11 January 2026 at White Eagle Play Park, Haydon End. Residents are invited to come along, try the equipment, meet the team and take part in guided demonstrations and wellbeing activities.
A special thank you to Harlequin Playgrounds for their excellent work in delivering this project, and to our team at Haydon Wick Parish Council for their continued commitment to improving local open spaces and facilities for residents.
This project represents a positive step towards creating inclusive, accessible and sustainable spaces that encourage health and wellbeing across our parish.
