Last night it was heartening to hear from three inspiring local organisations, each playing a vital role in our community.
Swindon & North East Wiltshire Community First Responders are a volunteer-led team who respond to emergency 999 calls across the town. They provide critical early care to patients, delivering CPR, defibrillation, and other lifesaving interventions before ambulance crews arrive. They asked for support with a Nonin pulse oximeter, an important piece of equipment that helps monitor oxygen levels and improve patient care.
The Roxi Foundation supports families of neurodiverse children in Swindon. They help parents access quicker autism and ADHD assessments, provide local activities, and advocate for children who often face long waiting lists and limited support. They asked for help with engaging the wider public, raising awareness so more families know they are there to help.
Draycott Sports Camp based at Abbey Meads Primary School, provides inclusive holiday and after-school activity clubs for children aged three to eleven. They create safe, fun spaces for children to enjoy sport, learn new skills and stay active. They asked for support in strengthening access to the Holiday Activity Fund, so children from all backgrounds can attend without financial barriers.
It was a powerful reminder of the incredible community work taking place and the practical ways we can offer support.
