No U-turns on Thamesdown Drive
Improving road safety
Thamesdown Drive - No U-Turns
I started this work more than 2 years ago with the ongoing aim to make Thamesdown Drive safer and keep traffic moving.
Road safety comprises of three parts. Engineering, Education, and Enforcement. This No U-Turn rule is the Engineering change. Next comes Education, so people understand the rule and why it matters. Enforcement follows.
Whilst it may not appear a daily issue, this issue does occur. Unsafe U-turns have caused many near crashes. The new rule will stop U-turns at key junctions on Thamesdown Drive.
It will apply at:
• Queen Elizabeth Drive by The Tawny Owl
• Queen Elizabeth Drive and Garsington junction
• Oakhurst Way and Thursday Street
• Eastbury Way and Torun Way
This applies in both directions and supports safer crossings at the green man signal. Emergency services have been consulted. The consultation is finished and the changes will now be put in place.
I will continue to work to bring improvements to Priory Vale.
