New walking routes for North Swindon & Priory Vale
Half term exploration
Exploring the North Swindon Fox Trail 🦊
Over half term, my family joined the North Swindon Fox Trail walk. The walk consisted of a 2.3-mile route through the green spaces of Haydon Wick and Abbey Meads weaving past play parks, over bridges into the beautiful paths of Seven Fields Nature Reserve before returning back to the Haydon Centre.
The trail was introduced and walked with Claire Fleming, Travel Plan Officer at Swindon Borough Council, who helped design it as part of the Active Swindon Trails Challenge. It’s one of several local routes encouraging residents to get active, explore on foot and appreciate Swindon’s natural spaces.

No foxes were spotted at this time, but there were plenty squirrels and many picturesque spots. It was a lovely autumn afternoon and the children were delighted to collect their limited-edition badge at the end!
These walks are part of the wider Active Swindon Trails Challenge, helping residents connect with their local environment and discover Swindon’s rich network of green spaces. Each trail promotes healthier lifestyles, and community pride, while showcasing the importance of protecting our parks, reserves and open spaces for future generations.
