Earlier this year, residents chose to spend ยฃ1,500 from Haydon Wick Parish Councilโs Community Choices on reviving Thyme Close Play Park.
This week, the transformation began. Talented wood carver Rob added a friendly snail, wise owl, cheeky squirrel, and even gave the treeโs wizard a smile. Benches and ride-on equipment were prepared for a fresh coat of paint.
As part of the Wild Wick โ25 programme, residents shared upgrade ideas through a public consultation. Children enjoyed painting, umbrella decorating, fence weaving, and helping sand the snake trim trail.
I had the pleasure of joining in with painting, crafts, and conversations with residents, alongside Cllr Vinay Manro, Cllr Richard Hailstone, and the brilliant Laura Cutter with her wonderful team. We were also delighted to be joined by Cllr Jake Chandler from St Andrew Parish Council, who came along to lend a hand.
It was a morning full of smiles, laughter, and colour and weโll be back soon to add the finishing touches.
